AC Milan defender Adil Rami has revealed that he wants to remain with the Diavolo beyond the summer and hopes to win a trophy with them in the near future.

The 28-year-old, who officially joined the Rossoneri on loan from Valencia during this season’s January transfer window, has proven to be a helpful addition to the Italian club’s defence since his arrival and he admits that he wants to help the club succeed in their mission of earning a Europa League position for next season.

Rami spoke to Milan Channel on Friday about his time with the Serie A side thus far and the recent improvements in their performances, while also commenting on the upcoming match with Genoa and his feelings toward some of his team-mates.

“I liked my performances against Chievo,” said the French international, who has scored three goals in his 11 league appearances for AC Milan since his arrival.

“I also liked how the team played as well, we all realised that we have to be compact if we want to play well. We must continue on this path against Genoa.

“Will I score at the Marassi like I did against Sampdoria? I want to do a good job in defence, then if I happen to also score a goal, then that’s better.

“[Philippe] Mexes? Everyone knows that he and I are great friends.

“Kaka? He’s a very important player for us, he’s very strong and experienced. He’s one of the best players we have in the squad.

“I really hope I can stay at Milan and win something with the team.

“Europa League? When I arrived here we were far behind in the standings, now we’re just a few points behind Inter and have the derby at home soon. This is very important.”
