Round 31 of the Serie A season saw Juventus lose for only the second time as Napoli beat them 2-0. Roma kept their slim title hopes alive beating Sassuolo by the same score.

Elsewhere Lazio beat Parma in a five goal thriller and AC Milan put in a put in one of their better performances of the season, winning 3-0 to Chievo.

Atalanta kept their unbeaten streak going beating Bologna 2-0 whilst Verona ended their losing streak and Inter threw away a two goal lead at Livorno.

The formation chosen this week is a 4-2-3-1 with Nicola Sansone, Ricky Kaka and Lorenzo Insigne providing the bullets for veteran centre forward Luca Toni.

Please feel free to leave a comment if you feel we have left anyone out or you diagree with any of the choices!

Simone Scuffet – Udinese (3 Team of the Week appearances)

The teenager is certainly enjoying a honeymoon period in the Udinese goal and impresses every time he takes to the field. Was inspired again against Catania making a number of saves in the final twenty minutes as the Elefanti threw everything forward. Has kept six clean sheets since making his debut in February.

De Silvestri – Sampdoria (3 apps)

Defended well against a dangerous, (although slightly out-of form) Fiorentina side. Won most of his individual battles and looked to attack up the right flank whenever possible. Is currently on loan from the Viola.

Federico Fernandez – Napoli (2 apps)

A solid display from the Argentine international. Kept a close watch on Fernando Llorente in the Juventus attack and ensured the Spaniard had a frustrating evening. Defended high up the pitch in the first half as the Azzurri went on the attack and then slightly deeper in the second.

Adil Rami – AC Milan (2 apps)

Didn’t have to get out of first gear as AC Milan overcome a lacklustre Chievo side. Provided a great cross to set up the opening goal for Mario Balotelli and didn’t pit a foot wrong at th back

Del Grosso – Atalanta

Not always a regular in the Nerazzurri defense but acquitted himself well in the match against Bologna. Was not against a particularly dangerous attack but defended well and did all that was expected from him.

Radja Nainggolan – Roma (3 apps)

Bossed the midfield, partucualrly in the first half when Roma came flying out of the blocks and pressed high up the field. Played a more defensive role in the second half, and the odd misplaced pass apart, did his job expertly.

Daniele Baselli – Atalanta (2 apps)

Another composed game from the elegant youngster. Comfortable in possession, can pick a pass and does his fair share of defensive work too. Has plenty of admirers from some of Serie A’s bigger clubs but may be best served staying at this developing Atalanta side for another season.

Nicola Sansone – Sassuolo

Was the only player who seemed capable of taking the game to Roma in the Sunday morning encounter. Thought he had won a penalty when he turned inside Mehdi Benatia before the referee changed his mind. Went close in the second half with a snapshot from the edge of the area and also beat several defenders with a mazy run soon afterwards.

Kaka – AC Milan (2 apps)

Rolled back the years on his 300th appearance for the club. Scored a brace, the second of which was a beautiful curling effort that crashed in off the post and played with the swagger of old before leaving the pitch to a standing ovation.

Lorenzo Insigne – Napoli (3 apps)

Oee of the Neapolitan’s best games of the season. Ran at the Juventus defenders whenever he had the chance and provided a great assist for Jose Callejon to score from. Just needs to vary his dribbles a bit, as he always has a tendancy to cut inside when playing on the left channel.

Luca Toni – Hellas Verona (5 apps)

Scored two late close range goals to help end Verona’s losing streak. The goals aside though, it was his all round game that was impressive. Lead the line expertly and was a contant nuisance to the Genoa defense. Nearly scored with a header prior to netting his late double.
