VIDEO: Italy unveil World Cup song

Italy have presented their official theme song for the 2014 World Cup.

The song is called  ‘Un Amore Così Grande 2014’ which translates to ‘A love so great in 2014’ and is performed by pop-rock band Negramaro and the frontman Giuliano Sangiorgi said that being asked to perform the song is an honour and will be a highlight of their careers.

“As a team we will try to bring an emotion not quite as powerful as this song, but more sustained, seeing as the World Cup lasts for a long time!” said coach Cesare Prandelli at the song’s unveiling.

“We will be going to World Cup with the intention to not give up and stay in it until the end.”

Proceeds from the song will go to a charity that conducts research into  Motor Neurone Disease, the illness that sadly killed former Serie A players Gianluca Signorini and Stefano Borgonovo.

The song is accompanied by an official video which shows the Azzurri in action in past tournaments directed by Giovanni Veronesi and can be seen here:
