AC Milan are seeking to bring in Manchester United striker Robin van Persie in the summer transfer window as the club seeks to bolster its ranks and return to the top of the Serie A table.

The 30-year-old Dutchman has not had the greatest of season this year, battling injuries and reported clashes with recently sacked United manager David Moyes.

But British tabloid The Daily Express reports that Milan coach Clarence Seedorf will ask the club’s leadership for van Persie this summer, and is willing to swap mercurial striker Mario Balotelli to make the deal happen.

It is also thought that the Rossoneri have grown weary of the 23-year-old Balotelli’s antics and are prepared to move the striker on.

Seedorf believes his fellow Dutchman van Persie is a player who can help Milan rise from the mid-table where they have languished all season.

Arsenal, Tottenham and Chelsea have also been linked with a possible move for Balotelli, should Milan decide to sell.
