AC Milan defender Daniele Bonera admits that his team’s main goal is to give their best effort as they try to earn a Europa League spot for next season.

The Rossoneri currently sit in 10th place in the Serie A standings with 51 points, just six points behind rivals Inter who will be looking to hold their own number five spot in the Derby della Madonnina at the San Siro on Sunday, and the 32-year-old is adamant that the Diavolo will do the best they can to achieve their objective of earning a place in Europe again.

Bonera spoke to Tuttosport about Sunday’s derby with Inter and the race to secure a spot in the Europa League next campaign, while also commenting on the continuing rumours regarding coach Clarence Seedorf’s possible departure from the Milan side in the near future.

“We’ll have to win all three of our remaining matches, then we’ll have to see how the teams above us in the standings do,” said the Italian.

“Winning the derby against Inter could negatively affect them even if they have a reassuring advantage.

“The Europa League? It’s our duty to go all out and get there. The club has asked us to reach that goal, as it still adds to the prestige of the club, even though we are used to making in the Champions League instead.

“Seedorf? I don’t read the newspapers, we all must remain focused on the field. Speaking of a possible change on the bench is premature and, in any case, we are all talked about daily.”
