Chievo coach Eugenio Corini believes his side still have the key to salvation in their own hands after a heartbreaking defeat at home to Torino.
The Flying Donkeys were downed by an own goal from defender Gennaro Sardo on Sunday at the Stadio Bentegodi leaving their fight for salvation for the final two matches of the season.
Speaking with Mediaset Premium after the encounter, the Chievo coach remained optimistic despite the defeat and his side hovering above the relegation mire.
“I am disappointed to lose by an unlucky goal,” he said.
“We have already created the preconditions to remain in Serie A a few weeks ago, we are the captains of our destiny.
“We need to look forward to doing better against Cagliari next weekend.”
Corini’s Chievo travel Sardinia to face Cagliari, who are themselves already safe from relegation this season.
