Eugenio Corini spoke of his pride and happiness after Chievo’s 2-1 win over Inter on Sunday, May 18.

However, he refused to give any guarantees that his future will be with the Flying Donkeys.

“We deserved an evening like that, it has been a difficult year,” said Corini to FcInterNews in his post-match comments.

“My boys deserved to beat a big team.

“It’s a great celebration, we played great.”

The Chievo coach also spoke about the future for Inter as the Gialloblu’s victory spoiled the final game for the Nerazzurri for Javier Zanetti, Esteban Cambiasso, Diego Milito and Walter Samuel:

“Me and my family have always been Inter fans.

“My son experienced the treble winning season and we feel strongly connected to those who gave so much to the Nerazzurro shirt.

“I’m sorry that they are leaving [Zanetti, Milito, Samuel and Cambiasso], but it is right to have a generational turnover at a certain point.

“They will be remembered in the history of football for their qualities as players but also as men.”

Corini was non-committal when asked if he will be with Chievo next season:

“We have spoken to the president, there will be a meeting on Thursday.

“I’m looking for a project and for a project that is shared with the coach so that we face together the difficulties that happen throughout the season.

“As happens at Parma, Turin and Florence.”

The Gialloblu coach spoke about Victor Obinna’s World Cup dream after the Nigerian’s two goals gave Chievo the three points.

“He wants to go to the World Cup, he told me he could play in a part of the game.

“He did a great job in making the most of the opportunity and has a great chance of going to Brazil with Nigeria.”
