Juan Jesus interInter’s Juan claims that Napoli attacker Gonzalo Higuain hurled racist abuse at him during a match.

The 22-year-old Brazilian defender, who signed with the Nerazzurri in 2012, revealed that Higuain, who was playing for La Liga giants Real Madrid at the time, attacked him two years ago during a friendly between his team and Argentina in the United States.

“During a normal clash, I stole the ball from him,” he stated whilst making an appearance on TV programme Esporte Espectacular.

“But during that time, he called me a monkey and worse things. I was stunned for about ten seconds, as I wondered why someone so well-known [throughout the football world] would behave that way.

“It really saddened me, and I felt helpless…I didn’t know what to do.”

Football has been rocked recently by racist actions across Europe, especially in Spain, with the most notable one taking place in a Villarreal-Barcelona tie in which Dani Alves had a banana thrown at him by a supporter.
