Lazio coach Edy Reja has stated that André Dias and Giuseppe Biava, both of who have expiring contracts, deserve an applause for what they have done for the club.

The Biancocelesti are expected to undergo several changes this summer after a disappointing campaign and Reja believes the defensive duo should be applauded as they prepare for what could be their final match against Bologna on Sunday.

“You know what they represent for me and the club, they gave a lot to this team also morally, I do not know if they will stay,” he stated at his pre-match press conference.

“We need to give them an applause.

“We were good and lucky to have them, I thank them in any case.”

“We had the goal of reaching Europe, it was important for us but we failed.

“We were not able to win two-three games. We hoped to win the Inter match because they were a contender but because of injuries I could not field the best lineup.

“The balance is not positive for us.”

“Only 3000 tickets sold on Sunday? This does not depend only on us but certainly the results had an influence, to have sympathy and credibility you have to put together a good team.

“The results of this year were not positive. In the future we will have to build a competitive team to battle for the top positions.

“Next week we will meet and establish the base for the future.

“We will clarify certain aspects and we will decide who to confirm and then we will work on what is missing.

“The transfer market does not depend on me, I do only technical evaluations.

“I am convinced that the president wants to build a highly competitive team.

“I launched many youngsters, but they need to have certain characteristics to play; you can have personality at 17 or at 30 as you do not acquire it with age.

“We will have to take into consideration the youngsters we have, like [Danilo] Cataldi that will return after an excellent season. He will have the chance to showcase his talent.”

“My future? We already talked about this. Many coaches are linked to Lazio.

“I have a direct relationship with [Igli] Tare, we do not need to have meetings but at the beginning of next week we will have a meeting to discuss about the future.”
