Roma midfielder Miralem Pjanic has expressed his delight after signing a new four year contract with the Giallorossi.

The 24-year old Bosnian international, who will represent his nation at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, has attracted interest from the likes of Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona, but Pjanic revealed he is delighted to have sealed his future with the capital club.

“A contract is not done from one day to the next, especially in a difficult season where I was concentrated on my performance,” the Giallorossi playmaker told Mediaset Premium.

“Everyone knew I was happy to stay, as I want to continue taking the Roma jersey as high as possible.

“We will certainly be challenging for the Scudetto next season. We had a great campaign and Juve deserve compliments as they broke records to win.

“This squad was built for victory and the mentality changed with Rudi Garcia. It is thanks to the coach that I decided to stay, as I am here to win for many years.”

Pjanic also commented on an incident involving him and Juventus defender Giorgio Chiellini, as it appeared as though the Italian elbowed the midfielder in the face during the Bianconeri’s 1-0 victory on Sunday.

“There was contact. I didn’t see who it was, but I noticed I was bleeding and showed the referee. Chiellini also had a very nasty foul on me in Turin.

“It’s a shame about that very late goal, but it was a well-worked move. The game was even and we could’ve scored earlier.”
