Italian international Ciro Immobile has confessed that the idea of replacing Robert Lewandowski at Borussia Dortmund excites him.

The 2013-2014 Capocanniere has been Dortmund’s top target in the upcoming transfer market as the German side look for options to replace Bayern Munich bound striker Lewandowski.

In an interview with TuttoMercato Web, the Juventus and Torino co-owned player spoke of his interest in playing in the UEFA Champions League and also addressed his potential transfer to last year’s runners up of Europe’s most prestigious competition.

“I am very ambitious. It is only normal for me to target greater heights after such a good season”, said Immobile.

“My first two goals have already been achieved: to win the Capocanniere and to be included in the provisional 30-man squad for the World Cup.

“I admit that I want to play in the Champions League now. The thought of stepping in for Lewandowski excites me a lot and Dortmund are an important team.

“Luca Caldirola and Giulio Donati have told me that the Bundesliga has improved a lot. They are fine even if they have a little problem with the language. We Neapolitans can adapt really well and fit into any environment.

“With that in mind, my agent is keeping his eye on things so we will see. It is very important for me to find a team in the Champions League, but I also need somewhere where I can grow personally.

“I talk a lot with Torino president Urbano Cairo. We have a great relationship. We both understand what we want. I need new experiences.”
