Colombia winger Juan Cuadrado spoke of his pride at his country’s achievements after they beat Uruguay 2-0 in the Round of 16 at the World Cup to progress to the quarter-finals where they will face hosts Brazil.

The Fiorentina man also insisted he is only focusing on his performances with Colombia at the moment and that he will only start to think about his future once the World Cup is over.

“We have made history,” said Cuadrado in his post-match comments after the game against Uruguay in which he picked up an assist.

“Our objective has been achieved, now we are thinking about each game as it comes to see where we can end up.”

Cuadrado was also asked about the number of Serie A players in Colombia’s line-up:

“It’s one of the most difficult leagues in the world, there are lots of us with experience such as [Mario] Yepes, [Juan Camilo] Zuniga and [Pablo] Armero.”

“We work a lot and this was evident on the pitch.”

The 26-year-old was also asked about where his future might be:

“I am calm, now I’m thinking about the national team but after the World Cup I will make the right decision.”
