Vicente del Bosque has revealed his future will be decided in the coming week after his sides 3-0 victory over Australia that wrapped up their participation in the 2014 World Cup.

The reigning world champions were eliminated from the group stages at the World Cup following consecutive defeats to Netherlands and Chile, meaning Monday’s clash with the Socceroos was nothing more than a formality.

“We ended our world cup in the most dignified way we could,” said del Bosque in his post-match press conference.

“In the other matches we were a little subdued, but we fought throughout them both.”

Following their humiliation at this tournament, there has been a lot of speculation regarding the future of both the national team and del Bosque himself who has been in charge since 2008 and the coach addressed this:

“These players can still give a lot more to the national team.”

“My future? That will be discussed calmly.

“We’ll see what happens next week.”
