Former Italy defender Massimo Oddo has defended erratic striker Mario Balotelli

The AC Milan striker has received plenty of criticism due to the Azzurri’s early elimination from the 2014 World Cup.

“If things go bad it is absurd to think that it was the fault of a sole person,” Oddo told Deejay Football Club.

“It feels bad to attack a companion. You must speak only if you are inside the dressing room. They must not attack their teammates outside of the dressing room.”

Oddo reflected on Italy’s World Cup campaign and he called for more changes in Italian football by allowing more young people to get involved.

“It was a World Cup that went badly. Now is the moment of change to restart in a new manner,” said Oddo. “There is a need to change and revolutionse everything.

“Ours is a football tied up with politics, for this it needs young people who have the desire to do something and that know the football world well.”
