The Ghana Football Association has booted both Sulley Muntari and Kevin Prince Boateng out of the national squad, citing indiscipline as the root cause of the suspension for both players.

Ghana was knocked out of the World Cup on Thursday following a 2-1 loss to Portugal, rooting them to the bottom of Group G.

However, star players Muntari and Boateng were banned by the Ghana FA from playing the match, with a statement on their official website reading that the duo had “been suspended indefinitely.”

The statement then went into further details, describing that Muntari had started an “unprovoked physical attack on an executive committee member,” whereas Boateng had said “vulgar verbal insults targeted at coach Kwesi Appiah.”

Additionally the statement added that Boateng had shown “no remorse for his actions,” leading to his indefinite suspension. This comes in wake of a interview on Wednesday when coach Appiah said that he had made up his differences with the player following a training ground bust up.

In regards to Muntari, the 29 year old midfielder had allegedly assaulted Moses Armah, a member of the Black Stars management.

Appiah revealed after the loss to Portugal that the two could be reinstated in the national setup should the pair perform well in the future.

Ghana’s World Cup run has already been marked by controversy, as the players earlier threatened to boycott the game against Portugal because the country had not followed up its promise of appearance fee payments.
