England winger Raheem Sterling has said that he would be glad to switch positions in the Three Lions lineup, if this is what manager Roy Hodgson requires.

The 19-year old assumed play-maker duties in the 2-1 defeat against England, but rumours are that for the must-win match against Uruguay Hodgson will bring him out wide at the expense of Wayne Rooney, who has been criticized for his performance against the Azzurri.

“That’s my normal position, out on the wing,” said the Liverpool player in a press conference from Brazil.

“Rooney’s vision and passing abilities, and my running abilities, could be a really good thing, but it’s down to the manager at the end of the day.”

Sterling said that he uses the training sessions to learn from the under-fire Manchester United striker.

“He’s a world class player, I’ve watched him growing up, and he’s someone I look up to,” the Jamaica-born teenager said.

“To train with him now in the training camp over these last couple of weeks has been a real honor, really.

“He works really hard and he’s always improving and I am really glad to have him on the team.”
