AC Milan boss Filippo “Pippo” Inzaghi has revealed that he’s both honoured and proud to be the Diavolo’s new coach.

The 40-year-old, who led the Rossoneri’s Primavera squad to a Viareggio Tournament trophy last term, was officially named as the Milan side’s new coach after former team-mate Clarence Seedorf was relieved from the position on Monday and he admits that he’s ready to continue giving his all for the club’s success.

Inzaghi spoke to the official AC Milan website about becoming head coach of his former team and thanked the club for the faith they’ve shown by presenting him with this opportunity.

“I’m delighted. Today is unforgettable,” said the ex-striker, who had a very successful stint at Milan from 2001-12.

“I thank president [Silvio] Berlusconi and all the club for the faith shown in me and the prestigious professional opportunity they have offered me.

“I am honoured and proud to be coach of the team that I played in for so many years, a team and a club that I’ve shared so many unforgettable moments with.

“I will give my all for this shirt, with dedication, passion and determination, like I always did on the pitch as a player and as a coach of the youth academy.

“A warm hug to all of the Rossoneri fans. Forza Milan!”
