Guangzhou Evergrande boss Marcello Lippi has revealed that he has no plans of making a return to the Serie A in the future, though he would like to coach a European national team.

The 66-year-old has spent most of his impressive coaching career in Italy and had seen a large amount of success during his two stints at Juventus from 1994-99 and then from 2001-04, but he admits that Guangzhou could be the last club he coaches.

Lippi, who also led the Italian national team to a World Cup victory in 2006, spoke to Radio 24 about his future and confirmed his wishes to work with another national team somewhere down the road.

“I will not ever coach in Italy again, this is for sure,” said the former Azzurri boss. “I have already coached there and I’ve won everything, now I think that Guangzhou will be my last club.

“I was offered a position as head coach of China in parallel with my job at this club, but it was infeasible and I had declined.

“In the future, however, I would like to coach another national team, even in Europe if possible.”
