Spezia boss Devis Mangia has denied reports claiming that he could become the next coach of Lazio after the departure of Edy Reja.
Reja, who took over as coach of the Biancocelesti after the departure of Vladimir Petkovic in January 2014, announced his decision to leave the position on Thursday and the 40-year-old Mangia has been named as a possible candidate to take over for him, though an official replacement is yet to be named.
Mangia spoke to Sportitalia about the possibility of him becoming the next Lazio boss and revealed that he hasn’t been in contact with the Serie A side.
“I haven’t had any contact with the Biancocelesti,” said the former Italy Under-21 coach, who had a stint leading his country’s youth national team from 2012-13 before taking a job with Serie B side Spezia.
The tactician led the Azzurrini all the way to the 2013 UEFA Under-21 European Championship final against Spain, where they were defeated 4-2.
