Napoli on the verge of signing Suarez

Mario Suarez Atletico MadridNapoli have stepped up their efforts to sign Atletico Madrid’s Mario Suarez, with the Azzurri reportedly on the verge of completing a deal for the central midfielder.

The Partenopei president, Aurelio De Laurentiis, has made no secret that he plans to strengthen his sides squad ahead of their charge on the Serie A title next season and Suarez could be the clubs first marquee signing of the summer.

According to Spanish website, Estrella Digital, Napoli have intensified their interest in the Spanish midfielder and are just a step away from finalising a deal with the Colchoneros.

Reports are claiming the Italians have all but secured the signing of the former Mallorca man however should the negotiations reach a stumbling block, Inter could also be ready to swoop for the 27-year-old.

Suarez joined Atleti back in 2010 and has since made 101 appearances for the club and given Napoli’s strong Spanish contingent within their squad, the defensive midfielder could well be playing at the Stadio San Paolo next season.
