Cesare Prandelli - ItalyCesare Prandelli was in sombre mood after Italy’s goaless draw with the Republic of Ireland on Saturday evening.

The Azzurri tactician was visibly moved by the injury to Riccardo Montolivo and admitted that the incident had affected his team and their subsequent performance.

The coach was asked whether, due to the suspected fracture to Montolivo’s tibia, he believed in bad luck.

He told Forza Italian Football reporters: “No, I don’t.  These are things that happen in football and we just have to deal with them.”

Prandelli may now take an extra day or so to finalise his 23-man squad as he admitted he needs to evaluate the situation before making his decision.

Italy take on Luxembourg in Perugia on 4th June for their final World Cup warm-up match before heading off for Brazil.
