Rubin Kazan and AC Milan in talks over swap deal
The Slovenian international joined the Rossoneri from Genoa last summer and played a minor role in their season scoring just twice.
According to Sky Sports Italia the 27-year-old could be on his way to Rubin Kazan in a swap deal for midfielder Roman Eremenko.
The Moscow-born Finnish international is the same age as Valter Birsa and has had stints in Italy with both Udinese and Siena.
Capable of playing centrally and out wide Eremenko has developed into an excellent player attracting interest from rivals Inter.
His wide range of abilities which includes an excellent assist record would make him a fine addition to Filippo Inzaghi’s squad.
Eremenko’s agent is expected to fly to Milan to discuss the transfer in the coming days.
