Sky Italia and Mediaset reach agreement with Lega Calcio over Serie A TV rights

Serie ASky Italia and Mediaset have reached an agreement with the Lega Calcio to show matches of the top eight Serie A clubs for the next three seasons.

The deal will also see Sky Italia have the exclusive rights to broadcast matches for the other 12 Serie A clubs for the duration of the contract which runs from 2015 to 2018.

The two companies currently hold the rights to Serie A matches but the new deal will see Mediaset broadcast fewer matches while Sky Italia will broadcast some matches exclusively.

The agreement between Sky, Mediaset and the Lega Calcio will see the Serie A receive 943 million per season, 114m more than they were set to make during the same three-year period.
