Uruguay coach Oscar Tabarez has said it is a great opportunity for his team to play against Italy in a World Cup match.
La Celeste will play against the Azzurri in their final Group D match in Natal, Brazil and if his team can get a win, Tabarez said that it would be a triumph against a great team.
“To play against Italy, for us, is a gift from the sky. If we have the fortune to win, for us it would be a win against a giant,” Tabarez said in a press conference as reported by TuttoMercatoWeb.
“[We have] respect for the opponents but we have a small chance of possibly [winning].”
Tabarez was asked about how he expects Italy to play and despite not giving too much away, he does believe this is a game in which both teams will go for the win.
“We don’t know absolutely. If we have the possibilities, given the importance of the game, the two teams will both be looking for a positive result,” said Tabarez.
“Perhaps Italy can have the advantage of a draw but we know not many will play like Italy.”
