Costa Rica national team defender Yeltsin Tejeda has revealed that his country were expecting to face the Ivory Coast in the World Cup round of 16 instead of Greece.

The Ticos, who shockingly won Group D after victories over Italy and Uruguay, will be facing the Greeks on Saturday to determine which team will advance to the quarter-finals and the 22-year-old admits that he was surprised by the Ethniki’s 2-1 win over the Elephants to earn the second place spot in Group C.

Tejeda spoke at a press conference ahead of Costa Rica’s match with Greece about the meeting between the two sides and insisted that taking on the Piratiko won’t be a problem.

“We were thinking more about Colombia and the Ivory Coast,” said Deportivo Saprissa man.

“We saw the Ivory Coast as favourites for second place, but in the end came the least expected team. Now we have to change the video cassette, no problem.”
