Juventus midfielder Arturo Vidal mourned the end of a dream for him and his Chilean compatriots as they lost their Last 16 clash with Brazil on Saturday night on penalties but praised his teammates for their performance and efforts.

After Alexis Sanchez had cancelled out the Selecao’s opener there were no further goals as the match headed to penalty kicks, and the hosts won 3-2 after Chile saw two penalties saved by former Inter goalkeeper Julio Cesar while the crucial final effort hit the post.

“It is difficult to be eliminated as well [as losing],” Vidal told FIFA.com.

“We played a good game, we tried.

“I’m happy with my companions. We tried to fight for our dream but we could not make ??it.”

Unfortunately for the Bianconeri man he was unable to have any direct impact on proceedings after his recent injury troubles meant he was substituted after 87 minutes when visibly beginning to tire.
