Bundesliga club Werder Bremen could challenge Juventus for the signing of wanted Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku.
The 21-year-old impressed on-loan at fellow Premier League side Everton last season and had also been linked with a move to Atletico Madrid as part of the Diego Costa deal, however, coach Dieter Hecking is the first to openly admit their interest in his signature.
“If the price of the player is advantageous to us we will try to take advantage of it,” Hecking told NDR.
Earlier this summer the Bianconeri had been linked with veteran striker Didier Drogba and the Belgian youngster certainly matches the physical attributes of the Ivorian which many believe could give the Turin club greater hopes of Champions League success next term.
