logoMatch day six will see the completion of the opening World Cup matches, as Group H gets underway in Belo Horizonte.

Belgium, the favourites to top Group H, take on Algeria at 17:00, before hosts Brazil play their second Group A fixture at 20:00, and then Russia clash with South Korea at 23:00.

In the opening five days of action there has been only one draw and a total of 44 goals have been scored, so the pressure is on for Group H to continue the entertainment.

Meanwhile, Brazil’s second fixture could see the hosts put one foot in the last 16 with a win, although the same also applies for opponents Mexico.

Belgium v Algeria

Marc Wilmots’ Belgium side are being backed by many to have a successful time in Brazil, but they could be in for a tough test against Algeria.

The Africans are appearing in their second consecutive World Cup, and they have further strengthened since a solid showing in 2010.

Belgium will expect to dominate possession at the Estadio Mineirao, but when the Fennec Foxes do get on the ball they should be able to threaten Vincent Kompany’s defence.

Up front the Algerians have Hilal Soudani and Islam Slimani, a duo with a combined total of 22 goals in 36 caps.

Compared to Belgium’s attack their record stands up well, although the individual brilliance of Eden Hazard and Romelu Lukaku could prove pivotal for the Red Devils.

Brazil v Mexico

A nation’s eyes will be set on Fortaleza, as the top two in Group A face off nearly a year to the day that they met in the Confederations Cup.

The Brazilians will be looking to repeat the 2-0 victory they enjoyed over the Mexicans 12 months ago, with both sides knowing a win will probably see them through to the last 16.

Brazil’s 3-1 success over Croatia got the World Cup off to the perfect start last Thursday, but there were certainly signs of defensive frailty from Luiz Felipe Scolari’s side.

Star man Neymar did produce up the other end though, and the jewel of Brazilian football is currently tied second in the race for the Golden Boot.

Mexico’s best hope for that award is Oribe Peralta, who was the hero in their 1-0 win over Cameroon on Friday, and also scored twice as El Tricolor defeated Brazil in the 2012 Olympic final.

Russia v South Korea

The first round of group fixtures is brought to an end by an intriguing contest between Russia and South Korea.

Both sides have earnt respectable reputations in World Cup football, and both will have hopes of making it to the knockout stages.

Fabio Capello’s Russia were clinical in qualifying, and will start as slight favourites in Cuiaba.

With Roman Shirokov missing the tournament through injury, even more creativity will be required from Russian playmaker Alexander Kokorin, with the Koreans likely to favour a disciplined approach.

Centre half Hong Jeong-ho is expected to return for the Taeguk Warriors, as they look to plug the gaps that saw them lose in warm-up matches against Tunisia and Ghana.
