AC Milan starlet Bryan Cristante has backed new coach Filippo Inzaghi to find success with the team despite the crushing defeats to both Olympiacos and Manchester City in Milan’s preseason US tour.

The Rossoneri lost 3-0 and 5-1 to Olympiacos and Manchester City, respectively, drawing heavy criticism from the media and fans alike. However, Milan’s midfield prodigy believes that Inzaghi can still lead the team to success in Serie A.

“We are growing, even if the results are not positive,” the youngster told the Milan Channel after the defeat to Olympiacos. “We are trying to do what Inzaghi has asked us to do, and we must continue on this path.

“It’s only the third game with the new coach, we’re still learning his patterns of play and we have to continue like that. We are working on our debut in Serie A, and these friendlies serve as conditioning to get us ready for the first league match.

“In every game we’re improving our fitness. I’m feeling well and my own fitness is also improving, but I have to keep working. We are a good group, we are working well in training and we are playing with great desire.

“The fixtures? You must meet all the teams sooner or later, but we must first work on getting ready for the first match on 31 August.”

Milan will kick off the 2014/15 Serie A campaign when they play the first Serie A match of the season against Lazio at the San Siro on August 31.
