France coach Didier Deschamps noted that the primary difference between his side and Germany was the experience that his side lacked as Les Bleus crashed out of the World Cup in the quarter-finals.

Die Nationalmannschaft took the lead in the thirteenth minute when Mats Hummels headed in the game winning goal from a free kick, helping the Germans advance to the semi-finals for a record, fourth straight World Cup.

Deschamps in his post match interview admitted that his side lost out to a superior side and was disappointed not to have made it to the semi-finals.

We confronted a superior side that plays at a very high level, said the former Marseille man.

They did well to go through to the semi-finals,” he admitted, “I believe that there is not that big a difference between us and Germany.

“This German side has more experience than us and they are more accustomed to playing in these large occasions.

He also conceded his side’s struggle in the game and complimented German keeper Manuel Neuer for his performance.

“We were a little timid early on in the game. Despite this I found that there was intensity.

There is still a lot of work to do with this team but I’m very pleased.” he continued. “Let’s not forget what we’ve done so far which is good, but, I wanted to reach the semi-finals.

I was not surprised to see where [Philipp] Lahm playe. He is more effective on the wing than Boateng. Neuer had a wonderful game for the Germans.

This is the first time that France have been eliminated in the quarter-finals of a World Cup since 1938.
