Former Livorno coach Davide Nicola has been struck by personal tragedy after the passing of his son in a tragic road accident.
Alessandro Nicola, the 14 year old son of the tacticain, was cycling close to the family’s home in Vigone, Piedmont, when he was run over and crushed by the rear wheel of a bus headed for Turin.
Reuters confirmed that the injuries sustained by Alessandro were severe enough for him to be pronounced deceased very soon after the tragic incident.
An investigation in to the circumstances surrounding the accident has been opened.
Nicola guided Livorno to promotion to Serie A in 2013 but lost his job after suffering relegation and has been replaced by Carmine Gautieri this summer.
