Genoa may move for AC Milan striker to replace Gilardino

Genoa may make a play for AC Milan striker Alessandro Matri if Alberto Gilardino completes a proposed move to Chinese giants Guangzhou Evergrande.

Gilardino is weighing up an offer to join Marcello Lippi’s side this summer and it is expected that he will leave the club, be it to China or somewhere else.

Sky Sport Italia report that Genoa are interest in Matri, who had a torrid campaign at Milan last year before being shipped out to Fiorentina in the latter part of the season where he did not fare much better.

Other options to replace Gilardino are Cagliari’s Chilean hitman Mauricio Pinilla or Roma striker Marco Borriello.
