Belgium defender Vincent Kompany focused on the positives of his team’s elimination after their World Cup quarter-final loss to Argentina.

Argentina narrowly edged the Red Devils 1-0 thanks to an early first half goal from Gonzalo Higuain, and despite their elimination, the Manchester City defender is proud of his side’s showing.

“Every story has to end. We did our best. It is a disappointment, but we gave it our all,” Kompany stated after the match as reported by lalibre.be.

“The game was decided on individual actions but we were better collectively.

“We were one of the youngest teams in the tournament but we will mature. In four years in Russia, we will have more experience.”

This was the first time Belgium had reached the quarter-final stage since 1986.
