Manuel Neuer described Germany’s 1-0 World Cup victory over France as difficult.

The quarter-final win means Germany will face Brazil on Tuesday in the World Cup semi-finals.

“It was difficult,” Neuer told the press after the match.

“It was always complicated and we suffered until the last minute to defend a shutout.

“They [France] played well [against] us and it was very important to win.”

Neuer spoke to the press prior to Brazil’s 2-1 victory over Colombia so he was asked who he would rather face in the next round.

“We will rejoice in this victory,” the keeper said, “and see who will be up there in the semi-finals.”

Neuer made a few critical saves to preserve the win, none more so than denying Karim Benzema’s chance late in the second half.

Germany has now won 28 of their last 31 official World Cup matches. With this victory they advance to their forth consecutive World Cup semi-final.
