New Fiorentina signing Octavio Merlo Manteca has revealed that he was very excited to learn of the Viola’s interest in him and insisted that he’s happy to begin this fresh journey with the Serie A side.
The 20-year-old completed his season-long loan move to the Gigliati from Brazilian side Botafogo on July 7 and he admits that playing in Italy for the 2014-15 campaign will be a dream come true for him.
Octavio spoke to FirenzeViola.it about how happy he is to be at Fiorentina while also commenting on which roles he’ll most likely play in coach Vincenzo Montella’s squad.
“I’m happy to be at Fiorentina,” said the Brazilian. “When my agent told me that the Viola wanted me, I was very happy.
“It’s everyone’s dream to come and play football in Italy. At Botafogo, I played in the midfield or as a striker, so these are the roles that I can play best in here.”
