His fine club form led to his inclusion in the Azzurri squad at the World Cup and to his moniker as the “Next Buffon.”
With Genoa’s pre-season kicking off in Austria last week and rumours circulating about a possible move to another team, Perin spoke to Corriere Mercantile about his time with Genoa and his success over the last year.
“Last year was a very positive season that ended with the national team call-up,” Perin explained.
“I made another step, but the scale is still long. I still have many things to learn and to make clear.”
Perin also spoke about a possible transfer away from the Grifone.
“There are many things I have read, but I have never expressed my opinion. My will is to stay in Genoa for a long time.
“Moreover, if the company will push to sell me, I will obey; but I want to play here.”
Perin also talked about the upcoming season and its difficulties.
“The championship will be more difficult, because we are a young team that will go forward. We have the power of enthusiasm.”
Perin kept 11 cleansheets for Genoa last season after a rocky start that saw the youngster make numerous mistakes and give up seven goals in two matches.
