Juventus and Real Madrid have reportedly opened discussions for a potential swap of Angel Di Maria and Paul Pogba.

Both Di Maria and Pogba have excelled for Argentina and France, respectively, in the 2014 World Cup and both are highly sought after by numerous European clubs.

L’Equipe reports that Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti has contacted Juventus to discuss a straight swap his forward for the highly-rated Juve midfielder.

Juventus coach Antonio Conte has publicly stated he is not offering Pogba despite interest from Manchester City and Chelsea.

However, Di Maria would slot into a wide midfield role if Conte switched to a 4-3-3 formation, which he intends to do in the upcoming season.

The Argentine forward scored the winning goal in Argentina’s extra time victory over Switzerland in the World Cup. He will sit during Wednesday’s semi-final match with a thigh injury.

While a regular starter for Real Madrid last season, the club has expressed interest in acquiring Colombia star James Rodriguez which would endanger Di Maria’s playing time.

Real Madrid, however, have placed a €50 million price tag on the forward, which could complicate any deal.
