Roma striker Marco Borriello may be on the verge of a move to Major League Soccer’s newest franchise New York City FC.

New York have already made two massive signings in David Villa and Frank Lampard and are in the market for more European based stars.

Sky Sport Italia report that Borriello will play out half a season in the Serie A, possibly with Roma, and then make the move in January.

The MLS outfit want the 32 year old Italian international to form a formidable partnership with Villa up front and a deal could take place soon.

New York are debuting in the 2015 MLS season that starts next March, and expectations are high in the Big Apple.
