Sassuolo owner Giorgio Squinzi backed Antonio Conte to replace Cesare Prandelli as Italian national team coach.

The Juventus tactician resigned last Tuesday and has been linked to taking over the Azzurri.

Tuttomercatoweb.com reports that the owner was asked by the press about Conte’s future.

“Conte is a great coach, that’s for sure,” said Squinzi.

“He is a coach that surely will be able to give that bite, the will to win that is a little ‘non-Brazilian’ to us.

“I hope he can choose more young [players] since I remain convinced that some young people, for example in a team called  Sassuolo’s attack, would not be absolutely disfigured in Brazil.

“[Domenico] Berardi, I think.  I think [Simone] Zaza, I think [Nicola] Sansone.”

All three players mentioned by Squinzi are players who played for his club in the last campaign.

Last season, the Neroverdi made their first appearance in Serie A and finished 17th.
