Chile national team midfielder Arturo Vidal has revealed that his country is proud of their performance at the World Cup, though they regret not being able to make it to the final.

The Roja were eliminated by Brazil in penalties in the round of 16 meeting between the two sides on June 28 and the 27-year-old admits that the Chileans were dreaming of winning the whole tournament this summer.

Vidal spoke to Kicker about his satisfaction with Chile’s performances at the World Cup and insisted that his team were unlucky in their match against the Canarinho.

“We played a great tournament, we are really proud of our performances,” said the Juventus man.

“However, now we are sad because we had dreamed of winning the trophy. We gave everything against all of our opponents, but it seems luck was not on our side.”

Chile were able to defeat Australia and 2010 World Cup champions Spain in the group stage, but secured second place in Group B after falling to the Netherlands.
