Belgium coach Marc Wilmots is proud of the desire his side displayed in their extra-time victory over USA in the Round of 16.

Goals from Kevin De Bruyne and Romelu Lukaku gave the Belgians a 2-1 win, setting up a quarter-final clash with Argentina on Saturday.

Speaking to reporters after the game, Wilmots admitted that he was afraid when USA piled the pressure on in the final minutes.

“It was not good for my heart,” said Wilmots. “But all my players showed great desire and have achieved a great victory.

“Tonight the whole of Belgium can party, this qualification for the quarter is historic.”

It is also worth mentioning that this is the furthest Belgium have gone in a World Cup since finishing fourth in 1986.
