Lazio defender Michael Ciani has revealed that he plans on remaining with the Aquilotti and wants to help the Italian side return to European play during the 2014-15 campaign.

The 30-year-old has been linked with a move away from the Biancocelesti this summer with clubs including Crystal Palace and Rubin Kazan supposedly keen on landing his signature, though he insists that he only wants to help the capital city club stage a comeback from their ninth place Serie A finish last term and possibly even aim for a Champions League spot.

Ciani spoke to Lazio’s official website about the rumours regarding his possible exit from the Italian team and commented on his mission to aid Stefano Pioli’s men in their fight to do well during the upcoming season.

“I have not had any direct contact with Crystal Palace, although I have always said that I have a weak spot for the chance to play in the Premier League,” said the Frenchman.

“Some clubs were interested in me, but there has never been any direct contact. The same goes for the situation with Rubin Kazan.

“I want to do better than last season and try to help Lazio regain a place in Europe, maybe even the Champions League, although it will not be easy.

“I want to have a very good season and I personally will not place any limits on myself.”
