Reports in Italy suggest that Turkish outfit Galatasaray have held provisional talks over a potential move for Inter midfielder Fredy Guarin.

After Valencia had a loan offer rejected by Inter on 30 August, it was widely believed that the Spanish club would simply return with improved terms and seal a deal for the Colombian midfielder before the transfer deadline.

However, according to Sky Sport Italia, Galatasaray have since emerged as serious contenders for Guarin’s signature as Cesare Prandelli’s side consider making an official bid for the player.

Having been left out of his side’s 22-man squad for the opening weekend of Serie A fixtures, the midfielder seems almost certain to move but this latest twist ensures that the 28-year-old’s destination still remains something of a mystery.

Last season Guarin impressed with four goals and nine assists for Inter in 31 Serie A appearances and has subsequently been the focus of one of the summer’s most prolonged transfer sagas.
