Former Galatasaray coach Roberto Mancini has discussed the recent Champions League draw and professed that Roma should fare well despite being placed in the “Group of Death”.

Roma were dealt undoubtedly the toughest group with reining champions in their respective leagues Bayern Munich and Manchester City apart of it.

Mancini during an interview told Sky Sport Italia: “Roma is not less strong than City and can also do well with Bayern.”

So despite the challenges that await, the Lupi have the backing of the former City coach himself Mancini and will aim to make it out of the group stages unscathed.

Beyond Roma, the Italian international admitted: “History taught us last year, in the Champions League you can’t take anything for granted.”

This will be the first time the Giallorossi will feature in the competition since the 2010/2011 season.

Within their group they face recently departed defender, Medhi Benatia, the central force of their defence last year, who has just sealed a move to Bundesliga titans Bayern Munich.
