Walter Mazzarri was content with his team’s performance in Iceland as they defeated Stjarnan 3-0 in the Europa League qualification playoff.

A first half goal from Mauro Icardi was added to by Dodo just after the break, before Danilo D’Ambrosio capped the match off with a fine 18 yard strike moments from the end.

“I am satisfied with everything, the result and the play,” he told the press.

“I am pleased with the progress of the team which is evident, and in particular what we did in the first hour because we had the patience to break the deadlock which wasn’t easy because they [Stjarnan] were all behind the ball.”

“They were tactically positioned well, and there were few gaps, so we had to keep calm and work the ball.

“We did just that, with good ball possession and we risked little or nothing. Then great play from Icard got the first goal.

“I think 3-0 could help the fans at the San Siro because there we can have fun in what will be our debut at home [this season]. I hope that there will be a lot of people there. This is an Inter team which is growing with promise. ”

“In terms of individuals I am happy for everyone, the progress of Hernandes, also [Mateo] of Kovacic. Dodò did some interesting things and must continue on this path. We believe in him.”
