Newcastle fullback Davide Santon has discussed the rumors swirling that he may make a summer move back to Serie A with Fiorentina, but insists he is happy on Tyneside.
The Italian international has played the last three seasons in the English Premier League with Newcastle and has been linked with moves to numerous teams this past summer.
In an interview with FirenzeViola, the 23 year old addressed whether or not a move to the Stadio Artemio Franchi was on the cards.
“I don’t know of anything and have been training with the team [Newcastle] and am focused on the upcoming season,” he said.
“Fiorentina is a good team with a great and coach who play beautiful football. In life as I always say you never know what’s around the corner, but for now I’m concentrating on Newcastle and the upcoming season.”
Newcastle start up their campaign this coming Sunday and face off against reigning Premier League champions Manchester City at St. James’ Park.
