Pablo Osvaldo is officially an Inter player, swapping places with Saphir Taider who has joined Osvaldo’s former club Southampton.

Osvaldo joins Inter on a one year loan deal with an option to purchase for €7 million at any time after flying to Milan and completing a medical last night, whilst Algerian midfielder Taider moves in the opposite direction on loan, with an option to purchase believed to be around €7m.

Inter announced the moves on their official website following a week of intense speculation that the former Juventus, Roma and Fiorentina striker could be about to return to Italy.

Osvaldo only moved to Premier League side Southampton last summer, but struggled before an ill fated loan move to Juventus in January left the striker’s future in serious doubt, but the Italian international’s desire to return to Italy and play for the Nerazzurri meant he has taken a near €1m pay cut to push the move through.

Taider was signed from Bologna last summer and had a spectacular start to the season but the Algerian international dropped out of first team contention following the arrival of Hernanes in January and had been expected to move on again this summer.

Osvaldo’s arrival signals a busy few hours for Inter, as Chilean midfielder Gary Medel is expected to be confirmed as an Inter player shortly.
