Fabrizio Ravanelli believes that former Juventus team-mate Antonio Conte is the right man to coach and help rebuild Italy’s national team.

The 45-year-old, who stepped down from his position as coach of Juve on July 15, was officially confirmed as the new Azzurri boss on August 14 and Ravanelli is confident that the tactician will be able to make Italy into the great national team it once was, especially after his success while leading the Old Lady in recent years.

Ravanelli spoke to Tuttomercatoweb about Conte taking over for Cesare Prandelli as Italy boss and praised the coach for his tactics, while expressing his positive outlook on the future of the Azzurri.

“I think Conte is the right man for the job,” said the ex-Juventus striker. “He has proven to be the best in Italy and one of the top coaches in Europe.

“These are dark times for Italy right now and I’m sure that he is the best choice possible. Antonio Conte is the top choice for those who love football, there is nothing better than this for the fans of the national team, like me and most other Italians.

“Is it the right choice for the FIGC to give Conte access to the youth? Absolutely, he must have the permission to do anything in order to give him the chance to rebuild everything, with the program that he wanted to bring Juventus.”
