Castan – Roma

Roma star Leandro Castan has had injury fears allayed after a scan revealed no serious damage to his hamstring.

Castan limped off in the first half of Roma’s 2-0 pre-season defeat to Inter at the weekend, amid fears that the Brazilian defender had torn his hamstring.

But TuttoMercatoWeb report that the player has had an ultrasound scan on his leg that revealed no serious muscle injury but a contraction of his hamstring on his right leg.

Castan will be able to return to training sometime this week, as Roma continue pre-season preparations with a training camp in Austria.

The loss of Castan would have been a problem for Roma as he formed an excellent central defensive partnership with Mehdi Benatia last season, though the recent arrival of Italian international defender Davide Astori would have compensated for the lack of the Brazilian.
