Roma sporting director Walter Sabatini determined to bring in Bayern Munich’s Xherdan Shaqiri after the capital club’s chase of Monaco’s Yannick Ferreira-Carrasco hit a snag.

It is no secret that Sabatini is a huge fan of Swiss international after his outstanding performances in the World Cup this summer, which included scoring a hat trick against Honduras. But the Giallorossi’s bid of €15 million repeatedly failed to entice the Bavarian giant to budge.

However, according to TuttoMercatoWeb, Roma has failed to secure the signature of Belgium U20 international Ferreira-Carrasco, as reports emerged that the youngster looks more likely to renew contract with his current club Monaco, thus Sabatini is now going to shift focus and make a new offer for Shaqiri.

The 22-year-old joined Bayern Munich from FC Basel in the summer of 2012, scoring 15 goals and assisting another 17 times in 66 appearances for the Bavarian club.
